According to community members, the investor took over the mining area from American-Liberian Mining Company (AMLib) in 2013 and it has been operating on the Mineral Development Agreement that was signed between the government of former President Charles Taylor and AMLib in 2000.

Comment on investment chain
The contract was originally signed with AmLib United Minerals Inc in 2002. In April 2014, Avesoro Jersey (previously known as MNG Gold Jersey Ltd) acquired 90% stake owned by Amlib in the project. The 10% is owned by the Government of Liberia.
