Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMC) is the first state Public Sector Unit (PSU) in mining sector in the country. OMC is engaged in exploration, exploitation and marketing of iron ore, manganese, limestone, chromite and bauxite in Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jajpur, Koraput, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nuapara and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha. OMC a “Gold” Category State PSU, has head office at Bhubaneshwar. OMC holds / operates 34 mining leases consisting of 11 chromite leases, 11 iron ore leases, 5 iron & manganese ore leases, 3 manganese ore leases, 2 gemstone (semi-precious ruby / corundum), 1 limestone and 1 bauxite leases only in Odisha state. At the present rate, OMC is producing about 10 %of total iron ore production of the State and about 30 % of the total chrome ore production of the State.
