Philippines

Most of the land data available on agriculture, agrarian reform, and indigenous peoples’ lands in the Philippines is collected by the various departments managing these sectors, but civil society and farmer organisations often conduct their own data-gathering activities, sometimes to validate the government data and other times to come up with their own set of data on specific issues. Since there are already several of these land monitoring initiatives at national level, the Philippines National Land Observatory (NLO) provides a platform through which they can build their capacity to collect and analyse primary level data and share it among all key stakeholders.

Country profiles

Country profiles present national-level data of large-scale land acquisitions and transactions including who the investors are, what the aim of the investment is, who the former owner was and what the land was previously used for, and what the potential benefits and impacts of the land deals are.

By making this information available, the Land Matrix hopes to enhance broad engagement and data exchange, facilitating the continuous improvement of the data. Find out how to get involved here .
