GELEX Group was founded in 1990 as the Electrical Engineering Equipment Joint Stock Corporation, focusing on manufacturing and trading electrical equipment and materials. It was renamed Vietnam Electrical Joint Stock Corporation in 2010. Originally state-owned, the government fully divested in December 2015 after shares were traded in October 2015. The company was later listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) on January 18, 2019.
