The Asian Development Bank (ADB) today announced a private sector financing package worth about $40 million to invest in Indonesia's first utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, on a project finance basis. The first phase, signed in December 2017, is a 72 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi. ADB's financing package for PT Energi Bayu Jeneponto, a subsidiary of Vena Energy, totals $120.8 million, including financing from two ADB-managed trust funds, the Leading Asia's Private Infrastructure Fund (LEAP) and the Canadian Climate Fund for the Private Sector in Asia II (CFPS II). The second phase, which was drawn down for the first time today, consists of a 21 MW solar PV power plant in Likupang, North Sulawesi, and three solar PV power plants of 7 MW each in Pringgabaya, Selong, and Sengkol in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The ADB financing package totals $40.2 million for Vena Energy's four subsidiaries. The second phase also includes the administration of loans from LEAP and CFPS II. The wind and solar power plants will supply energy to Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Indonesia's national electricity utility.
