Equity in the project has been provided by Scatec Solar, which is the largest shareholder, Norfund, Simacel, Stanlib/Standard Bank, and Old Mutual Life Assurance Company. Capital investment has been financed through Standard Bank. In 2021, ownership structure: Scatec,STANLIB and African Infrastructure Investment Managers are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 25% and 10% respectively. It is not cleat who owns the other 20%.
The Kalkbult Solar Park is majority-owned by STANLIB Infrastructure Fund II (67%), an infrastructure investment fund that acquired most of Scatec’s shares. Scatec ASA (13%), a Norwegian renewable energy company, developed the project and continues to manage its operation and maintenance. Kalkbult Community Trust (10%) holds a stake aimed at channeling economic and social benefits to local communities, while Old Mutual Limited (10%) maintains a strategic investment in the project.
