Veracel Celulose is a company formed through a joint venture between Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. and Stora Enso. Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. entered the business by acquiring the former Fibria. Veracel was founded in 1991 as Veracruz Florestal, being a subsidiary of Odebrecht. In 1997, the pulp mill was established through a partnership with Stora. In 2002, the former Aracruz (later renamed Fibria) took over the place of the Odebrecht company.
