Comment on electricity generation
The South African unit Enel Green Power, itself a subsidiary of Italian energy group Enel, reports that its 82.5 MW Paleisheuwel photovoltaic (PV) power plant has been connected to the grid. The project generates 153GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 48,000 households, offsetting 140,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The solar farm consists of 611,000 panels and sits on 240 hectares of land. The electricity from the plant was expected to be sold to Eskom at 99 c/kWh.
