The West Bakr Wind Farm began construction in February 2020 and commenced commercial operations in 2021. The project contract was signed in the fourth quarter of 2019 under the Build, Own, Operate (BOO) scheme, which allows the private company to develop, own, and operate the project. It is noteworthy that official reports do not specify the exact surface area occupied by the project​.
