The Nam Tha 1 Dam was built under the framework of Belt and Road Initiative. The electricity produces from this dam aims to export to Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Bokeo province, Boten Special Economic Zone in Lungnamtha province, Tachileik province of Myanmar and the southern part of Yunnan province of China.
