Some important demands from villagers were not met. Villagers stated that they do not have power to negotiate for a better land price (for the loss). Besides, the oral agreement between villagers and company were not implemented.

Although there is no resettlement, there was still farmland and paddy field were occupied due to construction of permanent and temporary camps, quarries and access road. According to the EIA report, in the reservoir area, the paddy fields and farmland of seven villages consisted of 493 households with total 3172 were affected by this project. While in the downstream, there were impacts on water use and local irrigation system of 10 villages. It was also reported that some affected people have not yet received compensation for the loss of their agricultural land (due to the flooding-because of the water-releasing from this dam) Source: CDM & EIA monitoring report

More than 3,000 ha in Kasy and Feuang district of Vientiane province of forest were lost due to this project. There is also the loss of fish species. Source: EIA monitoring report

Infrastructure provided such as road, bridge, water supply improvement, replacement of secondary school and broadcasting speakers were substandard.

Domestic use

All the power generated from the Project is supplied to EDL in accordance with a Take-or-Pay Commitment for a period of 25 years for domestic consumption [Hobomap]

The Nam Lik 2 hydropower project (Nam Lik 1-2 dam) has qualified as a greenhouse-gas-reducing Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project under the Kyoto Protocol and has a 7-year renewable crediting period.
