Makota Farm comprises an area of approximately 313 hectares.
The information that was published in the project summary indicates that on the 309 ha Makota site, approximately 18 percent of the land is already disturbed and many of the poultry operations structures will be placed on previously disturbed land. Poultry operations only require 30 ha or approximately 10% of the total land area.

Silverlands Tanzania created and operates 19 distribution centres across Tanzania with a chain of over 350 retail outlets selling its products exclusively to 134,000 smallholder poultry farmers, some 75% of whom are women.
A hub out-grower model, produces day-old chicks and poultry feed primarily for sale to smallholder farmers. As inputs into the poultry feed, the business purchases grains (maize and soya) from smallholder farmers. In 2019, 9,000 grain farmers around two-thirds of whom are women benefited.
Silverlands Tanzania currently buys maize and soya from 29,000 smallholder farmers.Silverlands Tanzania created and operates 19 distribution centres across Tanzania with a chain of over 350 retail outlets selling its products exclusively to 134,000 smallholder poultry farmers. The incomes of these smallholder farmers have increased by over 50% because of Silverlands Tanzania.

Silverlands Tanzania have built a strong team of women in middle-management, many grown internally from humble backgrounds. Since Makota farm was purely poultry and feed milling as per the 2019 ESG annual report, the same report indicates that in 2023, 117,000 smallholder poultry farmers economically benefit from Silverlands Tanzania’s poultry or feed - 70-80% of whom are women
