20,000 people work at Mopani (9,000 employees and 11,000 contractors), with over 8,000 new jobs created since privatisation. It is unclear how many jobs would be affected by the mine suspension from September 2015, but large numbers of employees are expected to be kept for the mines’ development. In August 2016, 4 employees were killed at the mines.
