Total deforestation in the period 2006-2014 amounted to more 2094ha. Floods in June 2019 that hit Ronta and Petumbea Villages were the result of massive forest encroachment and were exacerbated by the presence of PT. Cipta Agro Nusantara in the area. Tens of hectares of farmers' rice fields were flooded and residents' livestock were dragged away by the water. The company was alleged to be operating illegally without HGU. This meant that the government loses tax revenue, and also the residents whose lands were taken.
