The company provides volatile, contract-free positions as day labourers for the communities. The company claims to have created 5000jobs in Nigeria. Payment is below minimum wage. Communities allege that Wilmar has made promises to pay at least N50,000 (Nigerian Naira) for the least paid worker on the plantation, however workers earn a mere N10,000 or less and far below the national minimum wage of N18,000
