The project is based on an innovative public-private partnership involving three parties: The International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), a public agricultural research and development institute dedicated to improving agriculture in semi-arid tropics, especially in the Sahelian zone Achat Service International (ASI), a dynamic Franco-Nigerien agro-business; and Rural communities, which will benefit from the project by developing their own plantations and through employment creation. With support from Eco-Carbone, a French consultancy firm responsible for project preparation and the World Bank Carbon Finance Unit.
