A false start for wind energy in Uzbekistan?

This report analyses the current environmental assessments for four wind projects planned to be built in Uzbekistan and adds new evidence from visits to the sites, meetings with the companies and local communities, and expert advise from environmental organisations. It finds that the environmental assessments and in some cases mitigation measures for the projects must be significantly improved to protect threatened species in the areas, and that much more can be done to make the projects beneficial for local communities.
