The project will use 1,528 hectares of land, with a construction period of 18 months, a total project concession life of 25 years and a total investment value of 775,642,379 US dollars.

Phase II builds on the initial phase of the project, which saw the deployment of solar energy capacity. Under the new agreement, CGI Energy will advance solar energy development with a target of 580 MW in Luang Namtha and 420 MW in Oudomxay.

A Memorandum of Understanding for a six-month feasibility study for clean energy comprehensive project in three northern provinces of Phongsaly, Luang Namtha and Oudomxay was signed in Vientiane last week between Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Mrs Phonevanh Outhavong and president of CGN Energy Technology (Laos) Co., Ltd Dai Hong Gai Laos and CGI Energy Technology Co., Ltd. have signed an agreement to launch Phase II of the Northern Clean Energy Connection Project on August 8, 2024

The construction of a massive renewable energy base by the China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN Group) in Laos is scheduled to begin in June, marking the start of the largest single new energy project in Southeast Asia. Project is currently in the development phase, still no ground breaking ceremony held.

The investment project value is $ 775,642,379 US.
