Laos will use satellite technology for 170,559 hectares to calculate carbon credits. The aims to use new method is to prevent fraudulent carbon credit data. The project is also part of the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation in Developing Countries (REDD+) initiative, which focuses on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. The director of Carbon Registry Thailand (CRT), one of this project's partners mentioned on the news that the CRT Premium Carbon Credits which will stand apart from the usual US$3.50 per credit, reaching beyond US$40 per credit.
