Comment on data source
The National Rural Cadastre System, under the responsibility of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform, is an official and constantly updated database. However, the database has limitations, namely: 1) it only considers properties bought by the company; 2) the data is self-declared by the owners, meaning there might be more properties. The database is updated monthly (on the 1st of each month).

The Angelim quilombola territory is officially located in the municipality of Conceição da Barra (according to data from the Palmares Foundation). However, much of the news, as well as academic research, indicate that this territory spans the municipalities of São Mateus and Conceição da Barra. Both municipalities make up the Quilombola territory of Sapê do Norte.

The news reports that the company Suzano Papel e Celulose had been replanting eucalyptus within certified areas of the quilombola community Nova Vista, and the residents replaced it with food crops. Additionally, the news indicates impacts such as: the drying up of rivers; pesticide spraying by drone, which results in the death of small animals; violence and coercion (residents are not allowed to travel between communities due to intimidation from security); and the encroachment on their territories.

Comment on data source
The scientific research article highlights the expansion of eucalyptus cultivation in the state of Espírito Santo, focusing on the northern part of the state. Additionally, it underscores the impacts of this cultivation: indiscriminate use of water, the creation of a green desert, and the hindrance of agrarian reform.
