Wadas Village community organization which was formed to reject the government's plan to mine andesite stone on land owned by residents

The community rejects the andesite mining project in Wadas village. Because it will seriously threaten the environment and livelihoods of local communities if this mining project occurs. On January 6, 2023, "Wadon Wadas Mangku Bumi Pertiwi" (Wadas Women Save Mother Earth) - a demonstration was held wherein the symbollic wrapping stagen cloth around the trunks of large trees in the area.

Initially, the community rejected the planned andesite mining project in Wadas village, then some of the community refused compensation for the proposed mining project in Wadas village. Several factors underlie the community's rejection, one of which is the threat of environmental damage and threats to the livelihoods of wadas communities who depend on nature.

One of them is environmental damage considering that the mining exploitation plan is carried out at a depth of 40 meters and uses high explosive dynamite. On the other hand, the carrying capacity of the environment will decline sharply because the natural ecosystem landscape changes to extractive mining. Due to the mining site, there has been a larger risk to landslides and flooding to nearby communities.

There is compensation for land to be acquired for the andesite mining project in Wadas village.
