The Lagoa do Barro Wind Complex was developed by Atlantic Energias Renováveis S.A. In 2015, the wind parks were approved by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) and in 2018 the first farms began operating. However, in 2019 the company was sold to CGN Brazil Energy, a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group. The power granted by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) is 186,000.00 kW.

In 2021, another 82.8 MW were implemented through 18 wind turbines, bringing the park to an installed capacity of 277.8 MW and a total of 83 wind turbines. The total investment for the expansion of Lagoa do Barro was R$ 444 million.
