The Land Matrix was selected among 2,703 entries from 77 countries for the Honorary Mention in the Prix Ars Electronica award for digital communities.
Established in 1987 as one of the world’s premier awards honouring creativity and innovativeness in the use of digital media, the awards will be presented at the Ars Electronica Gala in the Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria on Friday, September 5, 2014.
The Prix Ars Electronica is staged jointly by Ars Electronica Linz GmbH and the ORF – Austrian Broadcasting Company’s Upper Austria Regional Studio in cooperation with the OK Center for Contemporary Art and Brucknerhaus Linz.
The Land Matrix is a global and independent land monitoring initiative. Its goal is to facilitate an open development community of citizens, researchers, policymakers and technology specialists to promote transparency and accountability in land and investment decisions.
