The West Bakr Wind Farm began construction in February 2020 and commenced commercial operations in 2021. The project contract was signed in the fourth quarter of 2019 under the Build, Own, Operate (BOO) scheme, which allows the private company to develop, own, and operate the project. It is noteworthy that official reports do not specify the exact surface area occupied by the project. The Project site is located within a broader 328 km2 area previously set aside by the New and Renewable Energy Authority (“NREA”) for the purposes of wind energy development (data source 2 information summary for the public).

Lekela Power was prequalified by the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for a 250MW wind project. The project aims to deliver clean and reliable electricity to underserved communities at one of the region's most competitive wind tariffs, supporting Egypt's transition to renewable energy.
