The six wind farms that make up the Morrinhos Wind Complex occupy approximately 2,743.70 hectares. 145 hectares belonging to the Comunidade Tradicional de Fecho e Fundo de Pasto of Fazenda Quina. Another 134.72 hectares are in the Comunidade Tradicional de Fecho e Fundo de Pasto de Belas and the remainder belongs to properties belonging to people from other regions. Of the total 2,473.70 hectares of the project, 1,961.74 hectares have the remaining coverage of Caatinga shrub-tree. Another 388.13 hectares are covered by Caatinga Shrub and 123.83 hectares correspond to anthropized areas, with the suppression of vegetation occurring only in the areas where the wind turbines will be installed and in the areas for the implantation and widening of the access roads.

The wind farms are located in “Area 5: Serra do Tombador”, an area identified in the “Atlas Eólico Bahia” (published by the government of the state of Bahia in partnership with private and public companies active in the sector in 2013) as promising areas for the implementation of wind projects. In the municipality there are 11 agrarian reform settlements registered with the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária INCRA), all of which were established after 2001. In addition to the areas of agrarian reform settlements, in Campo Formoso there are other traditional communities such as "Comunidades de Fundos e Fechos de Pasto (CFFP)" and Black Rural Quilombolas. According to the Mapping of Comunidades de Fundos e Fechos de Pasto (CFFP) in the state of Bahia (2020), in the municipality of Campo Formoso there are 20 Quilombola Rural Black Communities and 22 Fundo e Fecho de Pasto Associations.

The concession started in 2012 (five wind farms). The Ventos de Guarás I started the concession in 2014.

The operation started in 2015 and 2016.

The project is still in operation in 2024.

There are six wind farms in the complex, each with a name and a responsible company. All companies belong to Atlantic Energias Renováveis S.A. Atlantic Energias Renováveis was sold in 2019 to the company CGN Brazil Energy which, in turn, is a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group.
