Westfalia Fruto Moçambique acquired the use of land in Catandica under the DUAT system (Direito de Uso e Aproveitamento da Terra), which is the legal framework in Mozambique for granting land use rights. Land in Mozambique is owned by the state, but it can be leased to foreigners under this system for up to 50 years.
