During the beginnings of the 2000s, Anglo Gold Ashanti had a subsidiary in Colombia for the preparation of the project. It was Kedhada Ltd. Once they felt that the extraction of the Gold in Tolima was possible, the project was 100% and directly held by Anglo Gold Ashanti

It has been mentioned that the activities of the AngloGold Ashanti in Colombia are somehow related to the presence of other mining multinationals such as the Greystar, B2Gold, Glencore and Goldfields. La Colosa is 100% managed by Anglo Gold, but they have other shared projects in Colombia with those companies, reducing the competition for mining licenses in the country. Additionally, it has been mentioned hat several directors of the Mining Agency of Colombia have ended up working for the company, which raises concerns.
