In Panel 1's report "Barro Blanco Hydroelectric Project Panama" (2015), it is mentioned that the project consists of a hydroelectric plant at the foot of the dam, whose main works will require the flooding of an area of 258.67 hectares for the operation of the reservoir on the Tabasará River, and 5 hectares for the dam, powerhouse, and complementary works.

Generadora del Istmo S.A. (Genisa) acquired 100% of the land needed for the dam, power plant, access roads, transmission lines, and substations. Genisa also successfully acquired 97% of the land required for the reservoir.
