A sufficient number of farmers in the Viengsa Co-operative were interested in Jatropha development hence the co-operative was selected to take part in the project. A particular advantage of the Viengsa Co-op is that its members receive a soft loan to buy the raw materials required for crop production from the seed retailers (also Co-op members), thus making it easier for farmers to be involved.
