B& V completed a social agreement in 2009 where they promised to participate in community development programs, recognise the employment of unskilled and skilled personal from the affected communities provided they are willing and qualify , and recondition and maintain adjacent roads to the contract area.

According to a 2017 media reports- none of the promised benefits materialized within five years of the company’s operations. People still drink from creeks. There are no schools, no nearby clinics and the roads remain the way they were before B&V came.
