The 20,000 small-scale farmers will be required to produce 700,000 metric tonnes of cassava every year. Mahtani Group has partnered with Sunbird Group to build a US$150-million bio-ethanol plant in Luapula. The factory will use cassava as its main raw material- with presumably using sugar cane as a supplementary raw material. forecast to produce 600,000 tonnes of cassava feedstock for the bioethanol plant
