The entire PT GS concessions appear to lie on so-called ultrabasic soils which are nutrient poor and forests growing on such soil tend to be lower and scrubby. Ecologically, these forests are unique, due to their high degree of plant endemism, but they contain little marketable timber and are low in commercial value.
