as a result of protests the project was "temporarily suspended" on 30th November 2011 (New Vision 2011-12-02) and finally blocked in 2012. President Museveni disapproved of the project, however stated that other land may be made available for it. The reason for the rejection of the project by the president was that squatters on the land can not simply be displaced as they are protected by land law.
