The once customary land was acquired by the State which granted a Special Agriculture and Business lease to four landowner companies in 2007, for 99 years. It is alleged that these landowners then leased the land to the logging company Tutuman Development Ltd which in 2009 sold it to Palma Hacienda Ltd.
