In five years from 2005 to 2010, Vietnam - Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company had planted more than 10,000 hectares of rubber trees. in May 2011, the company started commercial production on 1,642.39 ha of rubber trees grown in 2005 and added 2,200 ha of rubber trees planted in 2006 to commercial production in September 2011, bringing the productive area to 3,842.39 ha in 2011. However, people in this village preferred to stay in their original village. Some land has been prepared for the new village, but no resettlement plan was available at the end of 2006. In the framework of a cooperation program among the World Wildlife Fund in Viet Nam (WWF-VN), the Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA) and the Viet Nam Rubber Group – Joint Stock Company (VRG) jointly developed the the Handbook β€œGuideline for sustainable management of rubber plantations in accordance with international forest certification standards” in early July 2018. The objective of this Handbook is to provide the basic knowledge about managing sustainable rubber plantations in accordance with international forest certification standards for rubber plantation owners.
