"Legally today the name is Addax Bioenergy Sierra Leone. However, we have recently filled to change the name to Sunbird Bioenergy Sierra Leone, and we expect this to take effect imminently. Sunbird Bioenergy Africa holds a 75.1% interest AOG holds a 24.9% interest (please note that AOG does not have any interest in Sunbird Bioenergy Africa - Mauritius).
AOG chose to downscale their investment in 2014/5 and consequently not all fields were replanted in 2015/6. THE PROJECT WAS NEVER ABANDONED. Sunbird became the majority shareholder and project manager on the 8th of September in 2016 and has a business plan to resume full operations by 2019. The project is currently producing power for the Government of Sierra Leone and producing ethanol which is being traded in Europe. please see our website for further details. www.sunbirdbioenergy.com The project is very operational and currently employees 2,400 seasonal agricultural workers.
The company is producing sugarcane, cassava and napier grass. We expect to add additional crops in 2018. We would classify the company as agriculture and renewable energy. "
