Comment on investment chain
Socapalm's ownership structure consists of 67.46% of shares held by SOCFINAF and 22.36% by the government of Cameroon. In 2009, Proparco provided CFA 1.5 billion to Socapalm to expand its milling capacity and rejuvenate its plantations. Socfin, whose majority shareholders include French billionaire Vincent Bolloré and the Belgian Fabri family, operates in eight countries across Central and West Africa. Its presence in the region dates back to colonial times, when, in collaboration with the World Bank, it managed to acquire thousands of hectares of land.
