The company was founded in 1967 in Aracruz during a period of "occupation" of the state of Espírito Santo, driven by the federal government as part of the national development plans. In 2009, Aracruz was acquired by the Votorantim Group, creating the company Fibria, and in 2019, Fibria was acquired by Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A.'s expansion is continuous, meaning new lands are added to its portfolio each year.

The factory in Aracruz was inaugurated in 2004. In 2023, the construction of a new facility in the same municipality was announced. The new factory is expected to start operations in the first half of 2026 and will be dedicated to tissue paper production.
